Escape route approved sliding door sensor based on a combination of active infrared and microwave detection.
The active infrared presence detection offers 2 rows of safety in front of the threshold. These can be set very accurately and can be moved 6° towards or away from the door. As an additional safety functionality, the OAM-DUAL provides an extra row of presence detection that looks into the threshold, also known as BLUEZONE. This row will be automatically shut off when the complete presence detection area is cleared and as soon as the doors start to close. The installation of safety beams is no longer mandatory.
The large microwave motion detection area provides fast detection for any traffic, approaching from any angle, which allows the door to open conveniently. The presence and motion detection areas can be adjusted independently. By selecting a dipswitch, the active infrared detection area can be set to safety only or to safety and activation. With the enhanced cross traffic cancelation function this sensor prevents unnecessary openings for a maximum of comfort. In combination with the uni-directional function, which allows the door to close faster when traffic is moving away from the door, this will contribute to significant energy saving.
The OPTEX OAM-DUAL T/TE models are safety tested and approved by the German test organization TÜV. They are in compliance with the German DIN 18650:2010, the European Norm EN 16005 and AutSchR.
For escape route usage the TE models have a monitored activation output with a universal installation setting and can be connected to door controllers enabling both frequency and/or voltage outputs.
Installation time can be reduced to a minimum by using easy to set (dip)switches and shutters, therefore the sensor can be quickly adjusted for many different applications. To adjust the presence detection area the use of an OPTEX Infrared finder is recommended.
OPTEX automatic door sensors guarantee premium performance and include a 3-year full replacement warranty.
The OPTEX Infrared Finder is the ideal support for the installation of automatic door sensors that use active infrared technology for detection.

The sensor will not react on temperature differences, but they can react on heavy smoke or changes in the environment caused by fire. So there is always a situation in which an Active Infrared sensor (f.e. OA-Axis T), a radar/microwave sensor (OM-106C) or an AIR/microwave combination sensor (f.e. OAM-Dual T) can react on fire. In case of detection, the sensor will send an output contact to the door controller. If the door opens or stays closed is determined by the door controller settings.

Our technologies are explained on this page.
When a person or object is detected in the approach area, the sensor activates the door and turns on the BLUEZONE™ that detects through the threshold. The sensor holds the door in the open position for as long as someone remains in the detection area. Once the area is clear, the BLUEZONE™ ignores the door panels and allows the door to safely close.
