How to apply left and right independancy on the BXS curtain sensor

20 September 2024

The BX Shield (BXS) series from OPTEX provides both versatile and reliable protection. Our wireless BXS-RAM and BXS-R is designed with the highest degree of compatibility and flexibility in mind, allowing for independent detection for each side.

Wireless detection is ideal for sites where traditional hardwiring proves difficult to install, saving the installer from having to drill or dig to lay out cable. However, in some cases, having two-sided detection on the device can be either unnecessary or even troublesome. In these scenarios, an independent alarm for each side can be the best solution. Thankfully, the BXS-RAM and BXS-R's design supports operation under both circumstances.

For right side only detection:

  • Connect the white and yellow pair of wires to the RF transmitter, as well as the blue and green pair for the tamper.
  • Connect the red, black, white and yellow wires to the RF transmitter.
  • Leave the grey and yellow pair of wires disconnected.
  • Ensure that DIP switch 3 is the up position.

For independent left and right detection:

  • Dedicated RF transmitters are needed for each side (2).
  • Connect the grey and yellow pair of wires to the left RF transmitter.
  • Connect the red, black, white and yellow wires to the right RF transmitter.
  • Connect the blue and green pair of wires to either the left or right RF transmitter.
